“Three is the magic number”, De La Soul said. And three are the guys from Don Pie Pie. Sometimes we tend to catalog and categorize artists in styles and genres as if they were products in a supermarket, arranged on shelves. But the truth is there’s much more life in a band than a style/genre. This is what happens with Don Pie Pie. A trio, united for the love of rock (not only the “progressive” one), that drink of so many influences, memories, places, which come into an union between analog and digital, somewhere between the roots and the future.
In 2018, they released DPP1, their debut EP which took them to several stages and awoke the more curious ones. Their debut in the editions is definitely marked by numer 3: 3 musicians, 3 instruments (drums, keys, and guitar) and 3 songs. Don Leonardo, Pai Pedro e Pai Miguel are the magic number. Yes they are.

Há uma forte tendência para categorizar e catalogar música em estilos e géneros como se os artistas fossem peças de roupa ou produtos num supermercado dispostos em prateleiras. Mas a verdade é que por mais sub-géneros que se criem, nem só de um estilo e/ou género vive uma banda. É isso que acontece com os DON PIE PIE. Um trio de ataque que se uniu pelo amor ao rock (progressivo e não só), mas que vai beber a tantos sítios, memórias, influências, culminando numa união entre o analógico e o digital, algures entre as raízes e a vanguarda.
Em 2018 editavam DPP1, EP de estreia que os levou a vários palcos e despertou a atenção dos mais atentos (passando o pleonasmo). A estreia nas edições deste trio fica definitivamente marcada pelo número 3 - 3 músicos, 3 instrumentos (bateria, guitarra e teclas) e 3 temas originais. Dom Leonardo, Pai Miguel e Pai Pedro formam então o número mágico. E há ainda muita história para construir.
